We have
arrived at the mid of summer, when the sun is at the furthest point from the
equator raising the humidity of parents and students. Every student is mindful
of the forthcoming 11 plus exam in January responsible for admission in
secondary schools.
The exam
consists of verbal and non-verbal reasoning, Mathematics tests and English test,
including children from both independent and state sectors. The exam will be
conducted in the month of January leaving with us with six months to spare.
11 plus exam
for a ten year old is like asking too much, but one must prove his worth for
admission into secondary schools. This is a test for both parents and students.
So here are few advices helpful for child during the 11 plus examinations:-
If your
child is weak in Mathematics, ensure that your child understands the core
concept and methodologies of Mathematics, including addition, subtraction,
multiplication, division and problem solving questions. Take help of mock tests
or play games like flash, etc.
Practice verbal and non-verbal
reasoning papers
Many
consider 11 plus exam test the temperament and reasoning skills, therefore hard
to predict and cannot be coached for. This is a myth. Lot of books are
available online giving students ample opportunities to
practice verbal and non-verbal reasoning papers giving him the idea about the
questions asked in the actual examination.
